Services

Psychotherapy is fully or partially covered by Dutch health insurance. The fees are set by the Nederlandse Zorg Authoriteit (Dutch Health Authority). You will need a referral from your huisarts (General practitioner), referring you to gespecialiseerde GGZ (specialized mental health care).

Outside the “Gespecialiseerde GGZ” structure, the fee for a 90 minute intake session is €280 and the 45 minute follow-up session is €170.

Sometimes a sliding scale applies for a select group of uninsured and low income clients.
See FAQ for more information.

Complaints Treated

Mending Mind offers psychotherapy for adolescents (12+) and adults, with a special focus on expats, internationals and people living between cultures. Treatment may be appropriate for problems related to:

  • anxiety and panic

  • existential issues

  • depression and low mood

  • trauma and post-traumatic stress

  • grief and loss

  • burnout and stress-related complaints

  • self-criticism, perfectionism and low self-worth

  • emotion regulation difficulties

  • attachment and relationship difficulties

  • identity, belonging and migration-related stress

  • personality-related patterns that lead to persistent difficulties in emotions, thinking, behavior or relationships

Treatments offered

Treatment is integrative and tailored to the individual. Depending on the person’s needs, treatment may include elements of:

  • client-centered psychotherapy

  • psychodynamic psychotherapy

  • schema therapy

  • cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)

  • compassion-focused interventions

  • EMDR

  • psychoeducation and practical emotion regulation strategies

Suitability

Treatment is intended for people who are motivated for psychotherapy and are able to participate in regular sessions.

In some cases, another treatment setting may be more appropriate, for example when there is a primary need for crisis care, intensive multidisciplinary treatment, inpatient care, or medication-focused psychiatric treatment. If needed, this will be discussed during intake and I will help think along about a more suitable referral.
